WOLVES OF THE SEA
PIRATES OF THE SEA

graphics Juub005, using an image someone made somewhere on flickr.com with creative commons license. If the creator of the original image wants credit I'll put it here, I just can't find where I got the image from right now. Ordinarily I'm a lot better at attributing the sources of the images I use but recently I've been slacking off.

This is a file I've been modifying on-and-off over the course of the past year. Look at the date of modification on the mp3 file -- I've seriously been working on this for almost exactly one year (well, "year" in general use isn't an exact unit, really, since we do have leap years, and scientists even recently added one minute to the new year or something?), which means I haven't ever really been completely satisfied with what's there. The steps are very much in the same style as Shady Lady when I did that with will-i-am a year ago, and you can see common links between the two charts, like a difficult double-step on a down arrow (you can argue there are 3 in this file if you include doing the UD jump the other way at the end), and me very closely following the vocals. That's the main thing that bothers me about Heavy: it follows the vocals almost the entire time. I like Standard better because the lower difficulty level allowed me more room to be creative, whereas Heavy difficulty just seemed to be calling out for following the vocals, and I'm not gonna change it now, because I still like it and I guess that was just my style last year. Oh yeah, the chorus I thought up when I was trying to fall asleep last summer while I was in my math research program. So the steps are copied from what I had in my head when my brain was also working on math, so I guess that means that this song and these steps are both intelligent. Haha, nooooooo....

I didn't want to submit this to the main contest even though it was almost done, because the last thing I wanted to be was the entrant with the stupid song with the video with the steps that followed the vocals too much, and I just didn't like the file enough. Well, here it is anyway.

I suppose I should mention that this was Latvia's entry for Eurovision 2008. It placed 12th, which is pretty good considering that the live performance sounded pretty weak. The UK and Ireland loved it, and so did Latvia's neighbors, of course.

And I loved it too. We are scary and bold, a chest FULL OF GOLD.

Enjoy.

PS lol - with the "bn-big" thing I'm still providing a 256 x 80 banner for my files to be DWI compatible for people like olbubba... but he's not around anymore, what happened?
